Sonia

My newest violin student, Sonia, has been a delight! She has been playing for 3 1/2 months now and is doing great! Today we celebrated all that she has learned with a little end of the year concert. I had asked her to bring a little appetizer and drinks, and I made cookies and a fruit salad. Well...her mom was so proud of her and excited about this little concert that she showed up with a ton of food and a delicious fruit punch! It ended up being dinner for the 13 of us that were present-little sandwiches, pastelitos, cazabe, plus the fruit salad and sugar cookies! Sonia played some Suzuki songs, several worship songs and Silent Night to end the night. What a special time!

Sonia came to know Christ this summer through our youth camp. She didn't even want to go, but her mom signed her up, and the Lord touched her heart. Her life has been turned around ever since. Since then, she was baptized and is being discipled through various studies and relationships. Now nobody at our church can imagine life without her! She is one of the those people who just loves to serve and in the short time she has been there, has weaseled her way into everyone's hearts. Her favorite place to be is at church with all her brothers and sisters in Christ-there is no doubt that she is very much at home there. We were so touched at the end of her concert today because Sonia's mom asked to give a few words, and she expressed how proud she was of her daughter and how Sonia, only 15 years old, has been an example to her personally in her dedication and love for the Lord. Sonia's mom has been a believer slightly longer than Sonia. She said that as a mother, she knows she should be the example, but that her 15 year old daughter has been an example for her. Sonia's life has challenged her mom to become much more serious in her walk with the Lord.

We are excited to see where the Lord will take her and honored to play a small part in her spiritual and musical development! God is at work!
