I couldn't be more proud of my first violin student, Marjorie! She has been a joy and a delight to teach. In fact, I really had no desire to teach violin to anyone at all, but her eagerness and dedication melted my heart right from the beginning and made me love it! She has worked so hard and has improved so much.
We had been working hard this year for her first little performance that we had on Monday where she presented her Suzuki songs and her very first worship song, O Come Let Us Adore Him! The audience was small-mostly family, so we had our little recital right here at the house. Her parents were beaming-so proud! We were all so very proud of her!
Marjorie has impressed me this year with her dedication to learning. I can tell when she comes to class that she has practiced so hard and improved so much. I remember one day she called me that her dad's car wasn't turning on, and he wasn't going to be able to drop her off for class. I told her not to worry-we would wait 'till the next week to have class. Well, 15 minutes later Marjorie was calling me saying "Sharon, I'm on my way in a taxi!" No excuses for this young lady! She wants to come to class.
My relationship with Marjorie has really been more than just violin. I have enjoyed getting to know this young woman and encourage her in her walk with the Lord. Violin has not only opened the door to get to know her, but to get to know her family as well. I am so thankful for that and have so enjoyed them!
Her sister, Tenisha, is just starting to take classes as well and also presented a little song at the recital, Twinkle Twinkle. She really rose to the occasion because she had only had a couple of lessons!
The star piece of the recital was O Come Let Us Adore Him. We recruited Kara who is here visiting to join in with Marjorie, Tenisha and me in this beautiful song of adoration to our Lord. It was GORGEOUS! I am so thankful for this opportunity to pass on the gift that was passed on to me...
That is exciting and beautiful, Sharon!
