It has been a month full of lots of events!! I couldn't characterize this month by boredom, but at moments I have longed for a little break in the activity.
We have enjoyed traveling all month long. After returning from our honeymoon to Panama City at the beginning of the month, several times a week we travel out to Balfate for job purposes. The weekend after we got home, we took a trip up to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, to attend the wedding of Marvin's cousin, Monica. The day after we got back from that trip, we drove to San Pedro Sula to drop of Mom, Hailey, and Catherine at the airport. Then this past weekend, we headed up to Siguatepeque for Marvin's triplet aunts' 50th birthday party on Saturday and celebrate Brian's (Marvin's nephew) first birthday on Sunday! We are tired, but it has been a wonderful time.
Marvin's aunts came to the world in the year 1960, so the theme of their birthday party was the 60s! The family tells stories of the birth of the triplets---they were famous in Siguateque!! It was an age of no ultrasounds, and Marvin's grandma Raquel had no idea she had three lives in her tummy! They tell of the actual day of their birth, when three American missionary nurses, Isabel, Juana, and Mariana, helped with the delivery of the babies. After each baby, Grandma Raquel would say, "Another pain! I'm having another one!" By the third, Grandpa was saying "No more! No more!" The babies were named after these nurses, and these nurses took my mother-in-law, Georgina, and her siblings to the USA for the first time as little kids. This story was recorded in a book and was shared at the party. At least 250 people attended the celebration! It was almost like preparing for a wedding! We all dressed up like we were from the 60s, and a DJ played music from the 60s, and they had old discs hanging from the ceilings, and it was a night full of presentations, food, and celebrating! Marvin, my sister-in law Yessica, and I surprised the aunts (and the whole family) by presenting a dance to Coronet Man by Diana Ross and the Supremes-Pastor Randy gave us the idea of looking up that group (thanks Pastor Randy!)! It was quite the hit! And now I am famous in the family for my dancing skills-ha. Marvin's mom has 11 siblings---his family on his mother's side is nearing 100 people, and most of them were there! It was a special weekend of family time, and now we are happy to be home sweet home again! (-;
What an honor to be the first to comment on your blog! Sounds like an exciting month you've had. Now this next month you should just stay home and do nothing but enjoy being married. :-)
